Yes, I love teaching beginners! I offer thirty-minute lessons for younger students and forty-five-minute lessons for older ones. How old is she?

At seven, she is at a perfect age to start. Most kids can play simple melodies within the first month. By six months, she should be able to play easy songs with both hands. The key is daily practice, even just fifteen minutes.

You do not need a grand piano. A digital keyboard with weighted keys works great for beginners and costs much less. I can recommend a good one for about two hundred dollars. That will last her through the first year easily.

She is doing very well! She picks up new pieces quickly and her rhythm is excellent. She is actually a bit ahead of where most students are at three months. I think she has a real talent for music.

It is very low-key — just family and friends in a small hall. Performing builds confidence like nothing else. She would play a short piece, maybe two minutes. Most kids are nervous at first but feel so proud afterward.

I would wait until she has been playing for at least a year. The ABRSM or RCM exams are great for tracking progress, but there is no rush. Right now the most important thing is keeping her love for music alive.
